A Cuban proposal to control air quality was one of the issues of the International Conference of Atmospheric Chemistry and its inter-phases held in Cape Town, South Africa, an expert said in this eastern Cuban province.

Barbaro Moya, researcher of the Meteorological Center in the western Cuban province of Matanzas, and delegates to the event, told Prensa Latina that the action plan opened spaces for the future collaboration between the island and other nations.

The expert stated the project is in a phase of development in Matanzas, towards a monitoring network for decision making.

According to Moya, measures adopted by industry include reducing emissions and fostering environmental education.

Irrigations of forest, agriculture, biodiversity, atmosphere and carbon cycle in the Amazon, satellite observations of carbon variability and the influence of marine microorganisms in the ice of the Arctic Ocean were topics of the conference.
