Those decorations were respectively given on Thursday by Alvaro Cruz, dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Victor Perez, rector of that higher education center.

Likewise, other university heads presented Alonso with the first copy of the Ballet Dictionary by Maria Elena Perez and Vladimir Gelbert and with the silver plaque of the university, among other gifts.

For her part, the director of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) expressed thanks for the acclaims and applause of the university students, teachers, leaders and all those present in the homage, which took place a little after Chilean President Michelle Bachelet received her at the Executive headquarters.

Alicia Alonso and the BNC will perform the play Don Quixote today at Santiago Theater and at Viña del Mar Theater tomorrow.
