Interesting archaeology subjects and the experience reached in this scientific activity by the Havana Historian's Office, were the contents taught by M.S. Beatriz Rodriguez Basulto, at a course lectured prior the 4th National Meting of Regional History organized by the Historian Office of the City of Camagüey.

In the lecture, Beatriz Rodriguez made a recount of the archaeology in Cuba since its origins in the 20th century and also referred to the most recent thesis and the principles of Edward Harris, on which the Cabinet of Archaeology of the Havana Historian's Office bases its procedures.

Excavations carried out in the coffee plantation El Padre, located in Madruga, Havana province, and in the sugar cane mill San Isidro de los Destiladeros, in the southern city of Trinidad, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988 are some experiences of the Cabinet, about which the people enrolled in the course got detailed explanations.

The participants also gained knowledge about the "digs" done in foundational sites of our capital, for instance, they knew about the place the main church was erected and eventually became the Palace of the Spanish Capitanes Generales, as well as excavations in the House Simón Bolivar, the House of the Marquesses of Arcos and in the Convent San Francisco de Asís.
