Cuban athletics enjoy good health today, assured the twice World Champion and one of the Caribbean island's greatest sporting figures, Ana Fidelia Quirot, who visited Nicaragua invited by the Nicaraguan Olympic Committee.

Quirot, one of the international figures that will attend the ceremony welcoming new Nicaraguan athletes to the Hall of Fame, particularly praised Cuban hurdler Dayron Robles.

In declarations to the press, the former running star said Dayron is a young talent that will provide better results.

The famous Caribbean Storm, who after her resignation from active sport works at the National Athletics Commission Foreign Affairs Department, added that there are several triple jump specialists enjoying very good prospects.

We hope track and field will stand up for Cuban sports in the Pan-American Games, she added, emphasizing the great possibilities of Osleidys Menendez s medal in javelin and Gipsy Moreno in the hammer.

Quirot travelled to Nicaragua along with prior basketball star Ruperto Herrera, invited as Vice President of the Cuban Olympic Committee.
