Havana’s Hotel Nacional de Cuba has just added another prize to its long list of achievements, after being selected as leader of the Caribbean island in the 23rd edition of the Word Travel Awards, considered being the Oscars of tourist industry.
The emblematic 85 year-old facility, operated by the Gran Caribe hotel chain, ratified its selection as Best Hotel of Cuba, a category in which the Florida, Iberostar Parque Central, Melia Cayo Coco and Melia Cohiba were also nominated, Cubasi reported on September 20.
The Word Travel Awards are conferred by a jury of experts to acknowledge excellence, according to a wide gamut of requirements by region, from hotels to travel agencies and airlines.
Also winning prizes, among resorts-spa, were the Paradisus Princesa del Mar in Varadero and the Paradisus Rio de Oro in Holguin, while Jamaica was selected as best destination in the Caribbean.
