The activities of the Cuban delegation to the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro 2016 will begin on Tuesday with an artistic gala and a literary meeting at the recreational cultural center of the National Association for the Blind (ANCI) in Havana.
The official farewell will take place on August 25 at Revolution Square, when the Cuban flag that will accompany the delegation will be received by outstanding athlete Omara Durand, Osmani Esquivel, of the National Department of the ANCI.
He added that the island’s delegation is made up by 20 disabled athletes, half of them of the ANCI, and the other part of the Cuban Association of the Physically Impaired and Persons with Motor Problems (ACLIFIM), who will compete in athletics, swimming, judo, weightlifting and table tennis in wheelchairs.
Their departure for Rio de Janeiro has been scheduled for August 30, while the Cuban flag will be placed on September 3 in Rio.
