Cuba and the US to re-establish Direct Mail Service on March 16

After nearly five decades without direct mail service between Cuba and the United States, the inaugural flight of the Pilot Plan agreed between the two countries for postal exchanges will be carried out on Wednesday, March 16.
As reported by the Granma newspaper, the Correos de Cuba Business Group announced that after coordinating the technical and operational details and safety for its implementation, the inaugural flight that will re-establish direct exchanges of mail between the island and the U.S. will be held by way of a pilot plan, which should be instituted on a permanent basis in the future.
The press release points out that the re-establishment of this service will allow direct shipments between Cuba and the United States of correspondence, postal packages, courier and express parcels service through post offices of both nations.
