Prominent Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami visits Cuba
Abbas Kiarostami, will receive today in the afternoon in the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, Tomas Gutierrez Alea Distinction, awarded to important figures in the international arena. The filmmaker will give a workshop on the Cinema School of San Antonio de los Baños.
A dozen films, including Where is the Friend's Home? (1987), Up (1990) and Like Someone in Love (Japan-France, 2012) and six premieres, will be presented at the headquarters of the Cinematheque of Cuba in the usual functions of five until eight at night.
Kiarostami's film career has been very neat, obtaining international prizes at festivals in Cannes, Venice, Toronto, Valladolid, Istanbul, New York, and Critics of San Francisco.
