Secretary of Commerce of the United States, Penny Pritzker, arrived Tuesday in Havana for an official two-day visit, as part of the process towards normalization of relations between the two countries.

Pritzker arrived in Cuba at noon Tuesday and during her two-day stay will meet with Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, and will visit other places of economic, historic and cultural interest.  She toured the facilities of the Mariel Special Development Zone and port.

The trip of the U.S. Secretary of Commerce is the second of a member of the cabinet of President Barack Obama, after the one made in August by Secretary of State John Kerry to attend the reopening of the U.S. embassy in Havana.

Penny Pritzker will open a meeting today between officials of the U.S. departments of the Treasury, Commerce and State and representatives of various Cuban ministries and companies, in order to exchange views on the scope and limitations of the steps taken by the Obama administration this year to modify the implementation of some aspects of the embargo on Cuba.
