Arrival of Cubans to US grows 30%
More than 31,000 Cubans have come to US through the border with Mexico and the port and airport of Miami for the first 10 months of this fiscal year, an increase of 30% over the previous year.
According to CBP, from October 1, 2014 to July 31, 2015, 31,314 Cubans reached US land through the border with Mexico and the port and airport of Miami (Florida), while during the last fiscal year (October 2013 to September 2014) they reached 22,162.
Through El Paso and Laredo (Texas), Tucson (Arizona) and San Diego (California) have entered a total of 23,213 Cuban immigrants and 8101 through Miami, according to figures to which Efe has had access.
US authorities do not rule out that this increase is related in some way to the normalization of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States, local media said Thursday in Miami.
