Telenovela about Celia Cruz airs in October
12 years after the death of Celia Cruz, Celia, the first soap opera inspired by the life of legendary Cuban singer call La Guarachera of Cuba, or The Queen of Salsa will air in October. Celia died in 2003 at age 77, after a successful career in Cuba, and since 1960 in the United States and the rest of the world, she is considered an icon of Cuban music and culture.
"I have not seen the whole story of 80 chapters, but what I've seen so far is excellent (...) positively surprised me and exceeded my expectations," said Omar Pardillo, executor of the estate of Celia Cruz in conversation with Notimex. He said the series "has a great production and good locations, all between Cartagena and Bogota (both in Colombia) and I'm satisfied."
