American Airlines (AA) said on Tuesday it will start operating from next December a charter flight between Los Angeles and Havana, the only connection between the two cities nonstop.
Cuba Travel Services agency will sell tickets. The flights will begin on December 12, round trip on a Boeing 737 of the company every Saturday.
AA also announced that it plans to add a Saturday flight between Miami and Havana, also available through Cuba Travel Services.
Like other airlines, AA has publicly expressed interest in having regular passenger flights to Cuba once the legislation allows it. "There has been a large increase in demand for air traffic to Cuba," the AA vice president of regulatory affairs, Howard Kass said last month to a television in Dallas, Texas.
