The Union of Young Communists (UJC by its Spanish acronym) said it has organized a concert "at the José Martí Anti-Imperialist Tribune" to wait for the August 13, date of the 89th birthday of Fidel Castro.
The so-called Anti-Imperialist Tribune rose against the building occupied by the US embassy in early 2000 during the campaign by Castro to achieve the repatriation of child Elian Gonzalez. Since then, it has hosted a wide range of activities, ranging from political rallies to artistic performances.
The UJC concert coincides with the Havana Carnival, which this year will be held from 8 to 17 August at the Malecon, from 19th Street to Marina Street, with its traditional parade and floats.
