The cruise company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH), requested authorization from the governments of US and Cuba to begin its operations on the island, Cuban media reported.
The Norwegian company required a license from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the Treasury Department and an export license from the Commerce Department.
NCLH president, Frank del Rio, said they hope "to hear positive results, and we are also in contact with the Cuban government, as required, for permission," announced during a conference with financial analysts.
In this regard, the employer considered that start travel operations in Cuba could have a broad impact not only for its proximity to the United States, but also because the Caribbean accounts for about 40% of the deployment of the cruise industry.
