Spain wants a "leading role" in EU-Cuba relationship
Jaime García-Legaz, Spanish Secretary of State for Trade, said today that the "special" relationship that Spain has with Cuba will allow "a leading role" in relations between the European Union and the Caribbean country.
Garcia-Legaz today welcomed the reopening of the Cuban Embassy in Washington and the US in Havana and said that Spain has "several months taking steps" to locate their companies in the "front line" of new opportunities of investment on the island.
Legaz recalled that approved a credit line of 40 million euros through Cofides for investment projects and business in Cuba.
He also stressed that the renegotiation by the Spanish government about the debt with Cuba, recently assumed, "will allow a new stage in the relationship with the government."
