United States removed Cuba from the group of countries with the worst index in the Trafficking in Persons Report of the Department of State, result of the normalization of bilateral relations between the countries.
Since more than a decade Cuba has "Level Three" in the report because US authorities have reported cases of "forced labor" in Cuban missions abroad, especially medical missions.
Although the report has not been completed and the US Department of State prefers to reserve comments on it, several congressional sources have said that Cuba definitely will increase level.
The "level-three" groups countries that do not fulfill minimum US standards. The next level (2) planned for Cuba brings together the countries that deserve special vigilance on this issue or that are making efforts to counter it.
