Cuban guitarist won second prize at the Montreux Festival
The Cuban musician Hector Manuel Quintana Ferreiro, recognized in his homeland with Jojazz 2013 and 2015 Cubadisco awards, just won the second prize in Monteaux Guitar Festival 2015. According to the official website of the festiva, first prize went to the Brazilian Pedro Martins and the third to the German Sebastian Böhlen.
The Montreux Jazz Festival, created in 1967, is Switzerland's most famous musical contest and one of the most rigorous of jazz. Having the chance to be part of the official program is for many musicians the opportunity to be known among colleagues, critics and fans. Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodriguez Jr. was discovered by music producer Quincy Jones in Montreux in 2006.
