The group will travel to Havana on Saturday, on a tour that hopes to build on the recent opening of the communist island to discuss equal rights.
The Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, composed of 20 men will visit Cuba from July 10 to 18. Before leaving the island, they will offer a concert at the Trinity Cathedral in Miami on Friday 10, at 7:00 pm.
"We have an incredible opportunity to help change perceptions about America and the LGBTI community in this historic visit," said Chase Maggiano, executive director of the choir, in a statement.
"The first visit of a gay chorus to Cuba," say the organizers, will be accompanied by the youth organization Youth for Understanding and seeks to draw attention to the issues of the gay community, in a country where gays were persecuted after the 1959 Marxist revolution.
