The online houses rental service AirBnB said on Wednesday that it explores a significant expansion of its operations in Cuba, when it's only been two months since it became the first major US company to enter the island in decades.
Nathan Blecharczyk, one of the three founders of the company and its current chief technology officer, told to The Associated Press during his first visit to Havana that AirBnB requested a special license from the US government in order to allow people outside US use the service to book stays in private homes in Cuba.
AirBnB currently hosts US reservation only going to the island in one of the 12 special reasons authorized by the government, which include educative trips, religious participation and sports and artistic events.
