Cuba beats Puerto Rico in Women’s Pan American Handball
The Cuban team defeated Puerto Rico 32-26 and got its ticket to the final of the XIII Pan American Women's Handball Championship, which takes place at Kid Chocolate multipurpose room in Havana.
It was the sixth straight win of the Cuban team in the tournament, after finishing unbeaten in the qualifying round, where it crushed all its rivals, with the exception of Uruguay, the only opponent that made them sweat.
With the silver medal secured, Cuba already tied its best performance at these events, achieved in 1999 in Argentina. In addition, it climbed up one seat in the historic standings, as it displaced Uruguay and now ranks fifth, behind Brazil, United States, Argentina and Canada.
