A new meeting between the US and Cuba with a view to restoring diplomatic relations after more than half a century of enmity , will take place "in coming weeks" in Washington, said the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez in an exclusive interview with AFP on Wednesday.
The presidents Barack Obama and Raul Castro stunned the world by announcing on December 17 their decision to leave behind the hostility and move toward restoring diplomatic relations, broken in 1961, two years after the Cuban revolution, amid the tensions of the Cold War.
Rodriguez also said there is a "considerable" progress in the dialogue to solve the financial issue of the Cuba Interests Section in Washington, which meets consular functions, and has no banking services for more than a year ago by the reluctance of banks, which fear sanctions by the US government.
In addition, on Monday Washington also left open the possibility that Obama to visit the island next year.
Raul Castro said on Tuesday that bilateral dialogue "goes well" so that both countries may appoint ambassadors after Washington to remove Cuba from the terrorist list on May 29, but the United States said it has no fixed time for this measure.
