The ferry services to Cuba, approved this week by Washington, stimulate travel from United States, which could become the second source of tourists to the island, after Canada, according to the Cuban expert Juan Triana .
The economic blockade that Washington has maintained against Cuba since 1962 prevents tourism from the US to the island , but in January, President Barack Obama eased travels in 12 categories of people, which has stimulated the visits.
Triana estimated that "if the ban for travel to Cuba can be removed and the Americans can come as tourists (...) perhaps in the first year, half million American tourists would come."
However, the academic warned that Cuba, which for the first time received in 2014 the record of three million tourists, is not prepared for the avalanche rating.
