New York Cosmos Club expected Cuban fans to overflow the stage for the "historic" friendly match to be played with the selection of the island on June 2 in Havana, said its spokeswoman Jill Francisco last Tuesday.
"We hope that all Cuban fans come to support their team, but also to give a welcome to a US team that comes in friendship", told Francisco to Cuban television.
The match will be played at Pedro Marrero Stadium, the main football field of the island, with capacity for 30,000 spectators, and it will be the first sporting event between Cuba and the United States after the start of the historic rapprochement between the two countries in December.
"Enjoy the party, it will be nice, it is historic and important for both countries (...) it is going to be something special, there will not be another day like this" said the spokerwoman.
US team played in Cuba in 2008 at the preliminary stage of qualifying to the World Cup 2010, but no American club has visited the island since 1978, when the Chicago Sting played a friendly with the Cuban National Team.
