The Cuban Rusney Castillo is ready to return to the Red Sox lineup. It could be as early as Wednesday.

Castillo suffered a muscle strain in the abdomen (left oblique) on March 3 during the first exhibition game Boston team. Since then he has not seen action in preseason games. However, on Monday the avileño made batting practice for the first time since he was injured, something that will do during the day on Tuesday.

"I feel very good health," Castillo said Marti News after completing a session at the facilities of the Jet Blue Park. "Thank God I feel good recovery and I'm good to start [pre] season."

The Cuban received authorization from the doctors of the ninth to restart their participation in the Grapefruit League. Boston has scheduled a game against the Twins on Wednesday, in which the Cuban could come back in the lineup after 15 days of no diamonds.

However, Castillo will have to earn a starting spot on the team roster despite having signed a contract for $ 72.5 million. To achieve this he must compete for a position in the outfield. And his opponent, young Mookie Betts, has wasted no time in recent weeks -compilaba .400 in his first 20 at-bats.

In the talk with Marti Noticias, the Cuban player sent greetings to fans of the island, especially those of his native Ciego de Avila, where he played for five seasons.

"Greetings to all the people of Ciego [de Ávila] ... to Cuba, to my family, who are always watching me. I send many greetings".
