New round of negotiations between Cuba and the European Union begins

The European Union and Cuba will meet in Havana, for the third time, to continue the negotiation of an agreement on political dialogue and cooperation between the two parties. The meeting will be held at the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
The negotiating teams will be led by Christian Leffler, executive director for the Americas of the European External Action Service and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Abelardo Moreno.
The negotiation process, which began in April 2014 in Havana and continued in August of that same year in Brussels, has been developing normally and based on equality and mutual respect.
This round should enable progress in negotiating the chapter concerning the Cooperation Agreement and the Sectoral Policy Dialogue.
Likewise preliminary exchanges must be made on the other two chapters of the Agreement, relating to trade and political dialogue.
