Grandmaster (GM) Isam Ortiz completed 9.5 points from 13 possible and was crowned monarch for third time in Cuban chess.

Isam, who had two defeats in previous dates, recovered with three hits in the final segment and met forecasts leading to the 14 contestants gathered in the House of Santa Clara UNEAC. His las victory was playing against his equal Omar Almeida.
 
"I had a very good tournament and lost twice when I called conscience because I knew I had to get the extra to achieve my goal," said Olympic silver medalist, followed this time by the FIDE Master (FM) Ermes Espinosa.

The third was occupied by the GM Yuniesky Quesada, who lost his last game before the International Master (IM) Roberto Gomez Ledo.
