General secretary of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur), Ernesto Samper, considered that lifting US sanctions against Cuba and evacuate the US military base at Guantanamo (in Cuba) are among the issues that need to be resolved for normalization of relations between Havana and Washington.

"Recently two governments took a historic step to begin talks to restore diplomatic relations, but do not forget the big issues to resolve: the embargo and the Guantanamo base," explained Sunday Samper the Catalan newspaper Gara.
