Andrés Piñon, barman at the Hotel Palacio del Marqués de San Felipe, will represent Cuba in the Habanosommelier competition at the International Habano Festival to be held from February 23 to 27.

Piñon won the national championship of the specialty, held in the Hotel Quinta Avenida in Playa municipality in which participated 10 representatives from the country.

On the lid these seasoned teachers demonstrated their skills canteen, beating a theoretical test and a practical presentation where diners assumptions suggest the perfect combination of Cuban cigars and drinks, depending dinner recently tasted by the customer.

The competition jury awarded second and third places Mabel Duran, Sociedad Asturiana Castropol, in this capital, and Maribel Mustard, the Hotel Iberostar Varadero, respectively.

Jorge Luis Fernández Maique, commercial vice president of Habanos SA stated that the lid was a great rivalry between the contestants and contributes to the training of Cuban sommeliers.

This year festival goers can enjoy exclusive the new vitolas Habanos launched on the market in the Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta brand.
