Artists from Cuba and the United States make up the nongovernmental and nonprofit US Cuba Artist Exchange organization to promote collaborative programs of art and cultural exchange between the two nations.
Mariesa Ryan, project coordinator, said that the visual arts and music, hip hop and trova are considered the most favored with the group's actions.
Exchange workshops, musical performances and wall facades are done in communities of the cities in which they move members of the project, she added.
Camilo Villalvilla Soto, president of the plastic section of UNEAC and member of the group, said that showcase the talent of this cultural hybridity, neighborhoods in Cienfuegos La Juanita and Punta Gorda and facades in some main streets of Minneapolis in the US.
Specifically, in Cuba Project artists are concentrated in Trinidad, Cienfuegos, Santiago de Cuba and Havana, and propose for the future to add dancers, actors and musicians to interpret other sounds, he added.
To illustrate the creative work and the task of the members of the organization, today the documentary Closer than you think is produced, by the American director Paul Irmiter.
US Cuba Artist Exchange was founded in April 2012 to promote cultural appreciation and spiritual growth of those who create or enjoy art.
