Cuban Yipsi Moreno and Yurisleydi Ford were placed in the first and second place at the hammer throw in Veracruz. Moreno reached 71.35 meters breaking the Central American record of 70.22 meters, set on Cartagena de Indias 2006.
Meanwhile Yurisleydi Ford reached 69.62 meters, which awarded her the silver medal, while the bronze medal corresponded to the Colombian Yohana Eli Moreno.
Yipsi Moreno, who has been world champion twice, and also has earned second place in two Olympic Games and two World Championships, has announced that it is time to say goodbye to the sport.
"I will always dream of the hammer, but it's time to start a new life," said the veteran, who broke Cuban record 22 times during her career.
