Sergey Torres won this Saturday the first gold medal for Cuba in the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games, Veracruz 2014, by winning the final of the canoe car at a distance of one thousand feet.

The competition took place at the Complex Boating Mexican city of Tuxpan. The Cuban crossed the finish line with a time of 3: 48,705 minutes, to win the top prize, escorted by Mexican Jose Cristobal Quirino (3: 53,640) and the Colombian Sergio David (3: 53,880).

Previously, Jorge Garcia had won the first medal for Cuba in multidisciplinary fair, arriving second in the canoe test car at the distance of a thousand feet, in close competition with the host Jesús Valdés.

The Mexican Valdes won the gold metal in 3: 34,077 minutes, exceeding the goal line to Garcia (3: 34,116), while the Venezuelan José Ramos (3: 36,422) came in third.
