The chess player Isam Ortiz jumped 12 points in his record since October, 2623 Elo points currently accumulating, which places him fourth in the national rankings. Moreover the stars Leinier Dominguez and Lazaro Bruzon instead of increasing lost some positions.
In the Continental Championships played recently in Brazil, Ortiz was fifth and led the rapid tiebreak games that defined four tickets on the World Cup next year.
At home, plus Leinier (2726) and Bruzón (2668) precedes Yuniesky Quesada (2643), who didn’t compete and ratified the balance from the previous period.
Leinier lost 25 stripes and Bruzón 11 so now appear at positions 24 and 77, in that order, as part of a top 100 that still led the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen (2863).
The Italian Fabiano Caruana held second but this time he gave up five lines that left him in 2839, while the Bulgarian Veselin Topalov repeated his 2800 in the following step.
