A few days ago came to Liberia the first group of Cuban doctors and nurses who will fight the Ebola virus in the country. The Liberian Foreign Minister, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, thanked the show of friendship and solidarity of Cuba.

Also, the Chancellor described the Cuban team as diplomats of medicine in the world, for their willingness and preparedness to combat the deadly virus in the country, considered the most affected by the outbreak of Ebola emerged in West Africa last March, and it has caused about 3500 deaths in the region.

For his part, the head of the Cuban advanced, Dr. Juan Carlos Dupuy said that all staff will work with the country's authorities to control the epidemic.

In a statement, the Liberian government said that in the coming days adding 50 more health experts are expected to join this initial team, although this number can vary depending on the actual needs.

In response to the call from the World Health Organization, Cuba had previously sent a medical team composed of 165 professionals in Sierra Leone as part of the global fight against Ebola.
