The team of Ciego de Avila remains in the battle to consolidate first place in the classification of Cuban Baseball Championship and being made to suffer for it to Cienfuegos, defeating them 2-0 last Wednesday. Ciego de Avila is the first team with 10 victories on the season.

The starter Dachel Duquesne allowed five hits in six and two-thirds innings of work, to score his second win of the season, while Yasiel Morales was defeated. 

While, Industriales continues fighting for the first place after beating Granma 9-6, with Frank Monthiet’s first win of the season and fourth salvage of Yohandri Portal, while the defeat was for the speedy Alain Tamayo.

Lourdes Y. Gourriel returned to lead the Blues attack pasting 5-3 with two runs scored and three trailers.

On Wednesday night there was another grout, Camagüey won by 5-0 to Santiago de Cuba, with veteran Vicyohandry Odelín and Rolando Rodríguez as protagonists.

Odelín allowed five hits in six innings and Rodriguez struck out five of the nine opponents he faced while Camagüey offense punished by 15-5 to Santiago.

Artemisa defeated 5-4 to Villa Clara, to be ratified in the third seat of the standings, two games leading Ciego de Avila and only one Industriales.

The promising reliever Yunieski García came to four hits in this season, while adding three saves.

In other results, Isla de la Juventud surprised 7-1 Matanzas; Holguín overcame 4-1 to Sancti Spiritus with excellent work of pitchers Yusmel Velasquez and Yaisel Sierra while Guantanamo defeated 10-6 to Mayabeque.
