Honey production in Matanzas could break record

The goal for this 2014 producers of honey in Matanzas is 1250 tons and so far have completed 70% of them. If they achieve the expected figure it would be the most successful production in the province.
The current accumulated is 855 tons of honey, almost 20 thousand kilograms of wax and about 450kg of propoleo, all above that obtained in the same period last year. The honey harvest is going well thanks to the care and protection of industrious insects and apiaries.
Specialists in the field say the final months of the year are fruitful for the sector, because the flowers accumulate more and, in turn, better quality of nectar sipping on bees’ colonies.
Honey is considered a food supplement useful and good trading in international markets, and also is used as a food raw material of medicines.
