The scientific research collaboration between Cuba and South Africa strengthened through the signing of an agreement between the Labiofam and Onderstepoort Biological Products Company (OBP) of the African country.

By ratifying the treaty, both sides confirmed their willingness to strengthen the ties of joint cooperation in pursuit of establishing a strategic relationship beneficially for both Africa and Latin America. The cooperation pact was made during a visit of Felix Quintanar, Labiofam’s representative for Africa, and specialist for the Region, Dr. Abel Garcia to South Africa.

In late September Labiofam also strengthened its partnerships with Ethiopia on vector control, agriculture and other sectors. Experts from the Cuban company, headed by Quintanar, made a working visit to the country, accompanied by the Cuban ambassador in Addis Ababa, Juan Manuel Rodriguez.

While in that state, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of production of viral and bacterial vaccines for the livestock sector.

Havana-based Cuban firm is dedicated to drug development, export of larvicides, biological rodenticide, veterinary drugs, viral and bacterial vaccines and dietary supplements, and other related products.
