After having surgery on his right elbow, the Cuban pitcher Jose Fernandez has returned to throw the ball after four months of being operated. Apparently his return to the majors will be sooner than expected.

The rehabilitation process seems to be going great, as the Marlins right-hander made 25 throws from 30 feet, half the distance from the mound to the plate, in a brief training in stadium Marlins Park, and then finished its work he said he felt fine.

This process will continue under supervision and Fernandez is scheduled later throw from 45 feet, sessions three to four minutes, until gradually increase the distance. The approval of his doctor Neal ElAttrache is evidence that surgery on May 16, had the expected results.

The ace of the rotation of the Marlins did not throw a ball since May 9, when the second baseman for the San Diego Padres Jedd Gyorko hit a grand slam that ordered his release from the mound in the sixth inning and made end his performance with the Marlins in 2014.

At just 22 years old, Fernandez had established himself as one of the most promising pitcher in the major leagues, after his successful debut with the Marlins in 2013 Fernández-hander went 12-6 with a 2.19 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 187 strikeouts in 172.2 innings, numbers that arguably endorsed his appointment as Rookie of the Year.
