Recently, the National Bureau of Statistics and Information (ONEI) published data showing an increase of 6.7% in the number of international visitors to the island during the month of August compared to the same period last year. These figures enliven the hope of achieving the goal of three million tourists during 2014.

June and July gave no such expectations and seriously believed that three million was a chimera. However, the count of these eight months is 2, 071.533 visitors, representing a 3.7% increase over last year.

Advertising campaigns developed in the world seem to have been successful. Countries with more issuers are Canada, which continues to lead, Germany, England and Italy. Particularly the Italy was the fastest growing country in August, reached over 12 thousand Italians to the island. Other countries that have reported growth compared to 2013 are France, Spain and Venezuela.

Authentic Cuba campaign, assisted by industry executives with domestic products in tourism fairs in Spain, France and Italy, together with the enhancement of cruise deals, could continue to influence positively the growth of visitor arrivals to Cuba.
