The Sugar Group AZCUBA has reported that 2015 will be 13 million as budget to rehabilitate the sugar sector, which include the import of equipment and refurbishment of water works in the irrigation areas.

Faced with the imminent start of the sugar harvest, which begins in November in Mayabeque and ends in May in Holguin, Cuba has 50 plants that will work 148 days of the coming production period. This period has two more plants  compared to the past; Dos Rios, Santiago de Cuba, and Brazil, Camagüey add.

Sugar production in Cuba recorded its highest figure in 1970, with 8.7 million tonnes, which was falling sharply to touch 1.1 million in 2007. This sector’s rehabilitation advances in negotiations with a foreign firm, this money will go to the execution of a bioelectrical the central Ciro Redondo, Ciego de Avila.

A second bioelectrical, with only national capital, is built on the giant Jesus Rabi, Matanzas; and it aims to implement three more in Artemisa, Havana and Holguin; which combined to lift 17 within which runs until 2030.

It also seeks, deadline for 2020, bringing the agricultural areas to the mills, which will be shortened to less than 20 kilometers distance between them.

For the next harvest one of the priorities is to invest in the rescue of the storage capabilities of honey and sugar; while an increase of 12.3 percent in production due to the increase of cultivated areas and the extension in the duration of the contest is forecast.

In November should begin six plants in December 37 more and the rest will be added in January. Currently all of them have been repaired and in 13 of these are done actions to ensure the proper treatment of waste. 73 percent of the 617 731 hectares of land for the area, is committed to the harvest.
