Tourism to Cuba is down slightly for 2013, according to data from the country’s National Statistical Office.

There were a total of 2.31 million visitors to the Caribbean island through the end of October, a 1.17 percent drop compared to the January-October period in 2012.

There were a total of 2.84 million tourists to Cuba in 2012 and 2.72 million tourists in 2011, according to data from the Cuban government and the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

Tourism to the island has declined in each of the last two months following a very strong August that saw 4.4 percent growth.

Canada remains the single-largest source market for the country, followed by England and Germany. So far this year, Chile has show the largest increase of any source market, with 39 percent growth, followed by China, which has grown by 28.4 percent.

Tourism from the United Kingdom has fallen sharply this year, however, with a 9.2 percent reduction, the largest of any of Cuba’s primary source markets.
