Cuba and Belarus are assessing today some possibilities for cooperation in the metallurgy, light, and chemical spheres, as a result of the working visit to this capital of a delegation led by the island's Deputy Industry Minister Eloy Alvarez.

The Cuban delegation met with Belarusian First Deputy Industry Minister Ivan Demodovich, in which the execution of the Collaboration Protocol in this sphere, signed during the visit to Cuba of President Alexander Lukashenko in 2012, was reviewed.

Actions to increase exchanges between Minsk and Havana were also outlined in the meeting, sources from Cuba's embassy in Belarus told Prensa Latina.

Exchanges about the working system from the Ministry of Industry of the Central European country were carried out during meetings of the delegation with that ministry's leaders and business groups of the chemical and light industries in the former Soviet republic.

Cuban officials and specialists visited important Belarusian factories, such as that of elevators in Moguiliov, and that of trucks and heavy equipment BelAZ, which has produced more than 120,000 vehicles for 50 countries since its founding in 1948.

Another important moment was the tour of the Minsk Tractors Plant, the largest industrial conglomerate of the city.

Belarus has exported 10 percent of all tractors sold in the world.
