Cuban female cyclist Arlenis Sierra won the title in the race by points in the Cuban Track Cycling Cup (Copa Cuba) which is being developed at the Reinaldo Paseiro Cycle Track, until Saturday.

"I am very happy. It was a hard race, competing against a very experienced contender, like Venezuelan Dianelys Garcia," said Sierra at the end of the competition.

Sierra, champion in track cycling in the Pan American Games in Guadalajara in 2011, totalled 66 points, to beat Venezuelan Garcia, who got 57, and her teammate and 2007 scratch World Champion Yumaris Gonzalez, who got 42.

With this result, Cuba leads the position list with four gold medals, followed by Venezuela, with three.

Cuba also won the female team pursue competition, followed by the Cuba B team and Venezuela.

The Cuban team was formed by Yumaris Gonzalez, Marlies Mejías, Yudelmis Dominguez and Arlenis Sierra, showing their superiority against Venezuela, with 5:02.362 minutes.

The Cuba B team was second (Mailyn Sanchez, Anel Enjamio, Heydi Herrera and Claudia Baro) with 5:33.980, while the venezuelan team abandoned the competition.

In the individual speed for women, Cuban athletes Lisandra Guerra and Laura Arias and Mexican Daniela Gaxiola and Franny Fong classified for the semifinals.

Guerra got the ticket as her opponent Idarys Cervantes (Cuba B) did not show up to compete. Arias beat Mexican Perla Loera in her two presentations.

Gaxiola classified as Cuban Daruiska Quintas did not show up, and Fong beat Guatemalan Chintia Lee in her two presentations.

In the menÂ?s classification, Trinitarian Alexander Quincy, and Mexicans Bernardo Mejías, Ismael Verdugo and Roberto Serrano, got their respective tickets.

Quincy won by forfeit, when Ecuadorian Christopher Samaniego did not show up to compete; Mejias beat Cuban Alejandro Mainat, Verdugo beat Ecuadorian Yamil and Serrano was better in the competion against Cuban Luis Montoya.
