Cuba won gold last night in the FIBA Americas Championship women''s basketball by defeating Canada 79-71 in Xalapa, the capital of the Mexican state of Veracruz.

The Cuban came to win, after winning 72 of 68 to Brazil, the favorite, in his previous stop, and so the final pass.

With his victory, the Caribbean also avenged its 53-40 setback to the Canadians during the playoffs.

At the meeting, by Cuba excelled Oyanaisis Geliz, who scored 19 points, and Canada, Miranda Ayim, with 13.

In the bronze medal match, Brazil defeated Puerto Rico 66-56 to.

The most prominent Brazilian was on top Tatiana Pacheco, with 18 points, while by Puerto Rico was Jazmine Sepulveda, with 21.

The Most Valuable Player was the Cuban Championship Yamara Bitter.

With these results, Cuba, Canada and Brazil get their ticket to the 2014 World Championship in Turkey.
