The Cuban beach resort of Varadero will be the host of the 5th phase of the beach volleyball circuit of the North, Central American and Caribbean Confederation from August 21 to 26 as confirmed by the Cuban Federation Tuesday.

For the 3rd consecutive year Varadero Beach will receive outstanding duos of the area, who will try to get relocation in the ranking to ensure their classification in the Central American Games in Veracruz, Mexico, in 2014.

This 7th version of the competition will have August 23, 24 and 25 as competition days, with a wide participation of foreigners and three Cuban teams in each year, said Mireya Luis, now responsible for the discipline in the Cuban Federation.

Karel Peña and Sergio Gonzalez got a silver medal in Guatemala in April and were fifth in Toluca, Mexico, in June.

Mexico heads the menâ?Ös list with 720 points thanks to two victories in four rounds, followed by the US, Puerto Rico, Canada and Trinidad & Tobago.

United States heads the female list with 760 points, escorted by Canada (720), Mexico (520), Guatemala (410), Caymán Islands (380), Dominican Republic (360), Honduras (250), Costa Rica (235), El Salvador (195), Nicaragua (180) and Curacao (110),Trinidad & Tobago (90), Barbados (70), Saint Lucía (55), Jamaica (45), Bahamas (25), Saint Martín (25) and the Virgin Islands (15).
