Cuban researchers highlighted in this capital that the family is one of the most important elements to consider when assess, design and implement all the policies of the country.

The director of the Center for Women's Studies, Maida Alvarez, alluded to the issue after the presentation of a study to the members of the Committee for the Care of Youth, Children and Equal Rights of Women in Parliament.

According to the specialist, the focus should not only be at the sectors (women, children, adolescents), also important, but to assess further impacts on issues such as the family of the measures taken and the domestic and international economic situation.

In that sense, I think the most important lies in considering the family a unit of analysis, evaluating everything that can bring that group to development because it is an active subject of this, explained she to media.

According to Alvarez, the study presented Friday to parliamentarians also analyzes the difficulties which currently has the family to fulfill its functions and makes concrete recommendations to solve these problems.

The study, conducted by a team of 17 researchers in which 244 investigations were consulted, also referred to Cuban family strengths, and protective factors associated with the context and social policies in health and education, among others.

The 10 permanent commissions of the Cuban Parliament on Friday began its second day of work, as part of the activities prior to the first session of the Eighth Legislature, summoned for tomorrow.
