The "Jaime Gonzalez" International Airport in the southern city of Cienfuegos expects to open this semester a new line linking Cuba with the Caribbean island of Grand Cayman and the U.S. city of Miami.

This was expressed to the press by Boris Suarez, director of the airport, who said the facility currently receives five weekly direct flights from the populous city in the southern state of Florida.

The Havana-Cayman-Miami route is right now operating. This line is much-requested by the Cubans traveling to the neighboring peninsula on the southern tip of the United States, the manager said.

During the high tourist season, from December to March, the local airport connects Cienfuegos with the Canadian metropolis of Toronto and Montreal.

The aerodrome, located about 250 kilometers south-east of Havana, includes recent recognitions to Sky King and Sunwing airlines, due to the efficiency of its management.
