With a message of love from Uruguayan Rodolfo Solmoirago, dancers from all over the world are celebrating the International Day of Dance today, falling on the anniversary of the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre, the French creator of modern ballet.

The celebration that was established by UNESCO in 1982 is a way of attracting the attention to the art of dance and gather all those who have chosen dance as a way of expressing themselves without cultural, political and ethnic barriers.

Every year, activities to commemorate the day begin with a message to the world made by an important dance figure requested by UNESCO.

On this date, the selected figure is the president of the Inter-American Confederation of Dance Professionals (CIAD) Rodolfo Solmoirago, who expressed the meaning of dance for his life through a personal message.

"Dance is my life because through it I can share and love, offering myself without limits and seeing human beings as my siblings, feeling them close to me, feeling that I am joining myself to their interior, the place I want to reach with my dance," said the artist.

"I feel and have a premonition that I will never stop dancing, even when I lack strength and my body is not capable of moving, then my soul will dance," said Solmoirago.

Professor Solmoirago realized his professional career in Brazil, where he was decorated in 2011 with the Artistic Merit Decoration, the highest dance award in that country. He also founded 24 associations of dance professionals, 3 national federations and the Inter-American Confederation of Dance Professionals which leads the biggest dance network in America, with 170 events per year in 14 countries.
