Cuba Purchases New Planes for Domestic Flights

The president of the Cuban Aviation Corporation S.A. (Cacsa), Ramon Martinez Hechavarria, has announced that Cuba purchased new airplanes for domestic flights, reported the local media today.
In a national act to mark the civil aviation workers day, held in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, Martinez Hechevarria said that they are Russian-Ukrainian AN-158 aircrafts, with capacity for 97 passengers.
Three of them will start operating in April, while the other three will fly next year.
According to Granma daily, CACSA president said the new airplanes will contribute to give a better quality service, with an efficient use of the country's aircraft fleet.
In this sense, Martinez Hechevarria also refered to the investment process that is being carried out at Jose Marti International Airport's Terminal 3, in Havana, and in the runway of Santa Clara airport, center Cuba.
