The implementation of new immigration measures in Cuba is going normal since its beginning on January 14, reported the national press.

Since the enactment of recent guidelines, the procedures for traveling abroad are more flexible and faster, because no longer require letters of invitation or exit permits, among other facilities.

The Immigration and Nationality Directorate (IND) today reaffirmed that only those considered vital in the work they perform must ask permission to leave the country, which does not mean that these citizens are banned from traveling, publishes the newspaper Juventud Rebelde.

This category includes officers or persons performing transcendent activities for economic, social, scientific and technical development of the country, so they must seek permission to travel, according to DIE.

They are also subject to permits youngsters expecting to perform military service, who must apply to travel before the appropriate authorities.

Cuba began 2013 with a new immigration policy whose implementation is in line with updating the economic model and the current immigration scenario, pointed out the government while announcing the measures.

Other facilities arising concern the extent of 11 to 24 months the time allowed to stay outside the country, and the possibility for those under 18 years to travel with prior permission of their parents or legal representatives.
