THE leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro met October 20 in Havana, with former Venezuelan Vice President Elías Jaua, now candidate for governor of the state of Miranda, who assured the press that he, Fidel "is in very good health and very lucid."

The Venezolana de Noticias news agency (AVN) reported that Jaua conversed for around five hours with Fidel, on issues ranging from agriculture, history, politics, tourism, and even culture.

Fidel "was kind enough to bring me to the hotel," Jaua commented to a number of journalists at the entrance to the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.
